What should the Y-GT2 belt length be?

Y axis assembly Step 35:

I installed belt such that the ends barely protruded from the belt holder as shown on line. But when I put the motor back into position I still had a lot of slop. I measured the "shorter" belt and it was 670mm versus the "long" belt which was 860mm. I reinstalled the short belt, So that it's taut, but now have an excess of belt, 14.62mm protruding on the y axis motor end and 12.30mm of excess belt protruding on the opposite end. BUT the 14.62mm excess belt prevents the Y carriage to engage the Y end stop switch. Can you help me?

Hi Ed,

for the Y-axis you've installed correctly the shorter belt. Its length should be 650 mm, I just checked it in few packages and all were fine. Yours doesn't have the correct length. You need to trim it, for example by scissors.

In general, the excess of the belt of the Y-belt-holder should be just a few "teeth" on both sides.

I'm sorry about this, I will send feedback to the production team.

Let me know if you managed to trim the belt and everything works ;)

P.s.: Ensure twice you are not trimming the longer belt for X-axis!

Had the same issue .. Y belt 670 long. Reluctantly, I cut off 10 teeth (total) and calibrated & printing OK.
