Hello. Im really new to 3D printing. Only just got my first 3d printer 1 week ago. I have tried to print out an object with supports but I have noticed that it comes out really inaccurate. It looks like the overhang literally sags as the support ends too low. I dont know if its the slicers issue or calibration. What should I do.

Update (08/11/2017)

Hello guys.

I have run 2 tests from "https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4360" and compared cura and slic3r prusa edition. Cura created much better surface finish and much better overhang at least I think. But cura also seems to create alot of stringing and when I increase the retraction, It looks like the printer is under extruding. Shown in the chicken photo. So with cura its either underextrusion or stringing. Im still trying to get the settings right on cura. And with clic3r its poor support finish, and poor surface. Also testing other options, trying to figure out how to fix it. I dont know if speed and temperature has much impact. All drivers are updated, firmware on mk2 is also updated.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hello Steve,

I was using slic3r prusa edition and mk2s i3 from prusa. Also the filament was standard that came with the printer. I have kind of resolved this by using cura from ultimaker. The overhangs are still sagging but maybe 2 layers so 0.2 - 0.4mm which is acceptable. But if there are any other tips I would be pleased to hear them.

Thanks

Patrick

Patryk,

I agree with Jakub, can you share the stl file? For me the settings out of the box worked great. How are your other prints?

Hi Patryk,

are you using default material and support settings in Slic3r Prusa Edition? Also can you please share the STL and G-code file?

Thanks

Hello. I'm using default filament from prusa, default slic3r prusa edition with prusa settings. I have printed the same object sliced In cura and it was perfect. But cura has its own issues and I want to go back to slic3r. Would you be able to provide me settings which would be the best for mk2 ? They don't come default with software and although I know what each setting does I just can't get it to work. I'll try experimenting again and see if I can get supports right. Thanks alot

Hi Patryk,

depending on your platform (Windows or MacOS) you have to download drivers package from our pages, where settings for best prints are included. On Windows, it is added during the install, on Mac you have to load them manually.

If you upload the file I can try to print it.
