Selftest Error! Please check : Loose pulley Motor Y

I'm following the build instructions and received this error:

Selftest Error! Please check : Loose pulley Motor Y

I had the same error on the X axis too, but simply tightening up the belt resolved the issue. I've tightened up on the Y axis and the error persists.

Is there a specific guide on how tight it should be? I've seen other messages on the board where it seems very trial and error. I.e. tighter and looser, but it's pretty time consuming experimenting on Y.

Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi PDC,

please check following:

1) The bed can move all the way back and forth

2) The pulley itself has one screw tightened against the flat part of the shaft

Let me know ;)

Hello Jakub,

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, I think I've made the situation worse! When I was trying to re-secure the y-pulley I cracked the pulley/motor mount (y-motor.stl) in half. I had a friend reprint me one and I've replaced it, but now the y axis doesn't slide very well. I suspect when I re-inserted the y-axis rods I misaligned the mounts and now the rods are askew. Are there any good resources on realigning them if the rods were removed and reinserted?

Thank you!

Hi PDC,

to align Y-axis smooth rods, release the side nuts in Y-corners, slide the Y-carriage back and forth (it will align itself), then tighten the nuts again. Also, check the belt is running straight between motor and idler.

Hello Jakub,

I was able to get the y-axis to move again. During the calibration test the y axis does hit the end point sensor once, but then after two more calibration turns the test stosp saying the pulley is loose. The belt tension seems comparable to the x axis tension and I've tightened the y pulley pretty well ( too much more and I think I might strip the bolt ). I have a video I've recorded is there any where I can it to so you can see what I mean?

Thank you!

Another question; does it make sense to try to update the firmware at all? I see in the change log there was a mention of fixing issues with the self check. I looked around and I saw a Firmware update for both Mac OS and Windows, but the GSE package only appeared to have an installation for Slicr and not the firmware updater. I.e. https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/releas...
