Click add to open file picker window. Our installer created a folder with 3D objects on your desktop, so double click it.

Batman is loaded in a 3D view! Now click Export G-code to prepare the 3D model for printing.

Can we have a good slic3r settings tutorial for pla and abs on the prusa!

Nickolae - Reply

I would like that :)

Hi Nickolae and Steve, if you install Slic3r PE using drivers package from http://www.prusa3d.com/drivers , then the best settings for PLA and ABS are included.

If you click a Preview button on the bottom, Slic3r will switch to G-code 3D preview. In case the Preview is not working right away, check the Option File -> Preferences -> Background Processing is enabled. Otherwise, the Preview will not show any layers until you have exported G-code first.

  • Use the slider on the right to change layers.

  • Copy your .gcode file to your SD card and start printing ;-)

what if i need to start printing from my pc? or i should be always printing from SD card ? and if i must is there any way to copy the gcode from my pc to SD card using the printer cable?

Alaa Alshahed - Reply

I also want to know, what I am doing now is using repetier host to print from pc.

Hi Alaa and Danie,

I would recommend printing from the SD card. In the case of longer prints, the computer can go to sleep mode, freeze or the app can have a failure. SD card is more reliable.

Thr Retier Slicer3 tells how long the build will take. Have had to use the Pointerface software to get this information. Could you add this feature to next Slicer3 update?

Hi Merrill,

I will forward this to our Slic3r team. You can also check new features here: https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/releas...

I have a question about Slic3r.

I currently use Cura with my PowerSpec i3 Mini. Cura is good about telling me if my prints are out out bounds from the print area or colliding with another object on the print bed. I have been toying with slic3r in preparation for my MK3, but i can’t seem to find a way to have Slic3r tell if the print is out of the print area or two object colliding with each other. Is there a way to do this?

Hi David

Prior to getting a Prusa printer about 6 months ago I used Cura or Slic3r to create .gcode files. Since installing Prusa Control for generating .gcode files for my Mk2/s and a MMU Mk2 I set up for my son I have not looked back. You can download and play with it, as far as I know, prior to getting your Prusa printer. Happy printing.
