Steps to Skip when going from MK2 to MK2S to MK2.5?

I plan on upgrading my original MK2 with both the MK2S upgrades and the MK2.5 upgrades... but a lot of the steps in the MK2S manual related to the extruder seem to be duplicated with the MK2.5 extruder. Any chance there's a list of which parts of the upgrade are necessary and which are redundant for this?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi Joe,

there is no direct update manual from MK2 to MK2.5 and I'm not sure we will be able to make one soon.

Anyway, let me try sum up the upgrade. MK2 to MK2S brought improved bearings, smooth rods, better Y-carriage attachment and reworked extruder parts.

You can skip the extruder parts as MK2.5 has a brand new extruder, but the rest must be first assembled according to the MK2->MK2S manual. I always try to have similar approach so it might be possible to open both manuals simultaneously a look in the MK2->MK2S and then compare if MK2.5 has something newer.

Just wanted to ask a followup, @jhoff80 , Did you end up completing this? I intend to do the same.

Basically I just did the MK2S upgrade and followed the steps for the axes but not the extruder. Then I did the MK2.5 upgrade. One thing to note is that the electronics section for the 2.5 upgrade won't list some of the things you needed to disconnect as part of the MK2S upgrade, so make sure to connect the X-motor and end-stop, as an example. It was pretty painless though.
