Why you use the old Y-carriage?

Why you use the old Y-carriage with 6 mounting holes for the bed on the MK2.5 instead of the new with 9 mounting holes for the bed?

The new system is way easier to attach because it screws in from the top.

It also potentially has flatter bed thanks to the 9 mounting points.

So was it just a simple cost reason as it doesn't effect quality or was there some other reason to use the old y-carriage?

Hi Samikka,

the main aim was to lower the number of parts needed for an upgrade. The old Y-carriage design is still performing great, so no need to be worried. Plus the MK2.5 is using mesh bed levelling to automatically correct uneven printing surface.
