unattached bare thin copper wire on extruder - dispaly show MINTEMP

During an unattended print yesterday, the object moved off the bed and the PLA filament formed a thick mass around the print head. I preheated the print head and then removed the mass of material from the print head. After removal in the mass, I noticed a braided blue sheath

and on the print head I see a thin bare copper wire that is unattached on the print head

. The printer now displays MINTEMP error. Selftest results in ok. Printer will not function. Will not preheat. Will not reset. My thought is that this wire became unattached but I don;t know where it is suppose to attach or how to reattach/replace it.

Any thoughts on how I can fix my printer?

I removed the extruder head. The wire is for the temperature sensor. I could not reconnect it and I was unable to remove the temperature cylinder (after removing the setscrew). The heater and temperature sensor seemed to be stuck in place with PLA. I've ended up ordering a new extruder head with temperature sensor and heater installed from PRUSA.

I'm thinking that I should make and install a shield of thin Teflon sheet under the heater block that covers the wires and heater block to prevent build up of extruded material on the extruder head if the print fails while unattended.

Hi Gilbert,

The extruder need the wires for stepper motor, heater cartridge and temperature sensor. The motor wires are not in the area you described so there's only the cartridge (2 red wires on your photo, seems to be ok) and the temperature sensor (2 little wires, same color as you PLA).

So i guess you disconnected the temperature sensor and your printer do not want to heat anything :(

Either you change the whole sensor or you reconnect it (it's a little cylinder next to the heater cartridge).
